Jimmy's update

Taylor has been posting Jimmy's updates to us through myspace so for those of you who dont have myspace here is what she wrote yesterday:

They took the monitor off of his brain today that is suppose to measure the swelling in his brain, this is very good. That means that they are no longer worried the about the pressure that is in his brain which means we are closer to letting him wake up.

They took his medicine off for 15 minutes today to check his responses, he moved his arms and legs and was fluttering his eyes but never opened them. He squeezed his sisters hand, but she says thats just a reflex.

They'll continue waking him up for 15 minutes at a time every morning to monitor his progress and determine when they are ready to take him off the sedative for good. The nurse says waking him up permanently is still a "ways" off, but we are still closer than we were.

He also got a trachea today, which means the breathing tube goes in through his throat now instead of his mouth, and they moved his feeding tube directly to his stomach. He looks a lot more like Jimmy today, although he does have a plastic thing in his mouth to prevent him from biting his tongue. His cuts are healing up nicely. He'll have some battle wounds on the left side of his head thats for sure.

If you go visit him he coughs a lot, it's kind of scary to watch so be aware. It almost looks like he's choking but he's not, the respiratory therapist will come in and make it stop.

It's a good day today, I'm hopeful and optimistic. I hope he makes a full recovery but it will take a long time to get to that place.

I miss my friend jimmy and reading this has made my day. This is the best news yet so Lets keep praying for the good news to continue.
